Why do we need special training for Early EMDR Intervention?
Immediately after a trauma occurs, memories have not had time to form into a consolidated whole. Trauma victims experience fragmented memories and often high levels of arousal necessitating the use of different EMDR protocols.
“…a fragmented experience that has not consolidated so that no single image can represent the entire event. It is therefore necessary to separately process a number of targets, which are aspects or parts of the event in order to facilitate integration and consolidation.” -Francine Shapiro (1995 and 2001); cited in Elan Shapiro 2009.
Larry Shrier, MA will be facilitating a training on the recent traumatic event protocol for individuals and groups. The event is being presented by Trauma Recovery/EMDR HAP and sponsored by the Center for Child Counseling.
Date: March 2 and 3.
Location: Futures of Palm Beach @ 701 Old Dixie Hwy, Tequesta, FL 33469.
